Hello! I want to create the old PHP4 site http://choeurallegretto.fr/ anew, using DokuWiki. Is there a plugin or something, that would allow to have this layout with a menu on top? ie. The menu is not part of each page; instead each page is in a layout where the logo and menu are always present.

I suppose I should reformulate my question. I know of the “navi”, and “menu” plugins for example. But while I see what markup must be used, it is not clear to me _where_ this markup shall be written, in order to be common to all pages.

More generally, I don’t quite get the general structure of the DokuWiki screen: where do I see, and control, the layout?

yrc: the general layout is controlled by the template, see https://www.dokuwiki.org/template

Some templates define certain areas where a wiki page with a certain name is displayed. Often this is a sidebar which is also frequently just named "sidebar", so you just create a page with the name "sidebar" and it is displayed in the sidebar.

Thanks Michitux! If I want to have a top menu, will I have to style the sidebar to be displayed at the top, or will I be able to define a “menu” area, that will mirror the “menu” page (if I understand correctly)?

Usually you cannot define that but either the template provides it or not. However, if you know a bit of PHP, HTML and CSS it should be relatively easy for you to customise that yourself.
  51. message at

There is basically one main template PHP file that defines the main layout and another one for the image detail view (though there were discussions to get rid of the second one iirc)

Thanks Michitux. I know a lot of PHP, HTML, CSS, and more ;-) If that is configurable, I’ll manage :-)

Hi again! I’m writing my first template, and I don’t find how to get the URL of an image that is stored in the template…
  60. message at
    yrc
In main.php, I want to include an image that is stored inside the template’s images folder. I tried simply “images/file”, as well as “<?php echo(ml('images/file')) ?>” but neither works.

By the way, where are ml, and tpl_link, and so on, documented?
  62. message at

Nevermind, I found the answer in the Zenith template (tpl_basedir).
